Marijuana, a potent reliever of pain and chronic illnesses, has been allowed in several states and cities across the globe, including San Diego owing to its numerous long lasting benefits. The city has come up with a proposal in the general elections legalizing the import, transport, usage, transfer and delivery of marijuana to its citizens aged 21 years and above for recreational and medical purposes. However, according to the Commission Chairman Stephan Haase, this proposal cannot be approved before testing the validity and reliability of cultivated marijuana and implementing proper rules and regulations for the safe use of marijuana in the city.
Certain measures will be taken by the authorities in San Diego before allowing the proper cultivation and legalization of marijuana. Some of the important steps suggested by the government in this regard are as follows:
- Marijuana crops will properly be planted in vast fields away from residential and industrial areas while indoor cultivation of marijuana will be strictly prohibited by the city council.
- The planning commission will take effective steps to ensure the strict rules and regulations for the dispensaries and stores selling marijuana.
- The delivery system of marijuana will be thoroughly checked within the city by the local authorities.
- Open and easy access to marijuana for recreational and medical purposes will be strictly banned and strict legal action will be taken against the violators of this rule.
San Diego has achieved the status of the only city in the United States of America allows the easy and widespread cultivation and legalization of recreational marijuana besides the medical one. For this purpose, several dispensaries have been issued the license to begin the sale of marijuana. The cultivation industries are also provided with an access to produce the drug. Though the marijuana is legalized in San Diego, the city council has put strict rules and regulations for its cultivation and delivery. It is the very reason that the local government has put a 45 days marijuana moratorium in San Diego, banning the use of recreational marijuana temporarily to ensure the stricter and safer usage of the drug in the city.
